My students

Last Thursday, I received messages from my students wishing me Happy Teachers' Day. And today, I just read the e-mail sent by an unknown student asking for forgiveness. I am touched beyond words by these gestures of theirs and really...I am thankful to Allah for giving me this opportunity to be a teacher. I just pray that I am able to benefit useful knowledge to my students and be a source of inspiration and guidance to them. May Allah and Rasul grant my prayers.

-your humble servant-

My reply (a practice for my Malay writing also)

Wasalam,Cikgu Hilwah P.S: Boleh saya tahu nama awak dan kelas awak? takkanlah awak mintak maaf tapi tak beritahu saya nama awak.

Helping the World Muslims is Our Duty

Helping the world Muslims is our Duty

When our mothers and sisters cry out in Iraq or Palestine from the pain inflicted upon them by the Kuffar, when a fighter cries out in Chechnia and Afghanistan due to being bombarded, when the child in Darfur has tears of pain and hunger streaming down his face.

It is that we must respond to this call because today there is no Khalifah like al-Mu'tasim to rescue the women of the Ummah, there is no Umar bin al Khattab to send food for the hungry, there is no Salahudeen to protect the Islamic lands. Rather today it is us who are the guardians of this Ummah and who are responsible to bring back the protection, honour and might to this Ummah.

Allah (swt) entrusted us to be the witnesses over humanity, He (swt) says: "We have made you the best nation to be witnesses over mankind. And the Messenger as a witness over you." [Al-Baqarah: 143]

The month of my Beloved!

Sya'ban

Fiqh-us-Sunnah Fiqh 3.127
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) would fast most of the month of Sha`ban. Aishah (Radi`Allahu Anhu)said: "I never saw the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) fast a complete month save for Ramadan, and I have never seen him fast more in a month than he did in Sha`ban." (Related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.)

Usamah ibn Zaid (Radi`Allahu Anhu) inquired: "O Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), I never find you fasting in any month like you do during the month of Sha`ban." The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) responded: "That is a month the people neglect. It comes between Rajab and Ramadan. It is a month in which the deeds are raised to the Lord of the Worlds. I love that my deeds be raised while I am fasting." (Related by Abu Dawud, an-Nasa`i, and by IbnKhuzaimah.)

Other than the whole of the holy month of Ramadan,it was the practice of the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) that he would keep as many voluntary fasts as possible in the month of Shabaan.

Narrated Abu Hurairah, Allaah's Messenger said: "When the month of Shaban is halfway, do not fast." [Reported by the five, Ahmad disapproved it].

Ibn Rajab (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Fasting in Sha'ban is better than fasting in the Sacred Months, and the best of voluntary fasts are those that are (observed in the months) closest to Ramadan, before or after. The status of these fasts is like that of al-Sunan al-Rawatib which are done before and after fard (obligatory prayers) and which make up for any shortfall in the number of obligatory prayers. The same applies to fasts observed before and after Ramadan. Just as al-Sunan al-Rawatib are better than other kinds of voluntary prayers, so fasts observed (in the months) before and after Ramadan are better than fasts at other times.

Hazrat Umm Salama (Radhiyallahu anhaa) is reported as having said:
In no other month, apart from Ramadaan, did Allaah’s Messenger (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim) fast more often than in Sha’baan. And that was because, each Sha’baan, all who must die in the course of that year have their names transcribed from the list of the living onto that of the dead, and a man may embark on a journey even while his name is listed among those about to die.

According to Anas ibn Maalik (Radhiyallahu anhu), the Prophet (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim) once said:
“The excellence of Rajab over other months is like the excellence of the Qur’aan over all other speech, while the excellence of Sha’baan over other months is like my excellence over the rest of the Prophets, and the excellence of Ramadaan over other months is like the excellence of Allaah (Exalted is He) over all His creatures.”

NIE

Assalamualaikum....

Life at NIE has been dull and mundane thus far. I do receive some education in each class, albeit at a very small degree. It is only my literature class that I really look forward to.

I love my literature lecturer and having taught literature and now, studying it again, i feel like i'm falling in love with the subject all over again. Literature is like my first love which I can never forget. It has always been there in my heart and now, upon close contact with it once again, i feel like my love for it has rekindled.

I now look at poems in a different light especially after reading some sayings of the Prophet pertaining to poetry.

"God hath treasures beneath the Throne, the keys whereof are the tongues of poets."

"Some poetry is dressed in knowledge and art."

Now, I'm in awe at every poem. Poetry is the only form of writing which strings words economically. What a genius poets are.

Too bad I am nowhere near them.

Woe onto you.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficient, the Most Merciful.

"And those who launch a charge against chaste women, and produce not four witnesses (to support their allegations),- flog them with eighty stripes; and reject their evidence ever after: for such men are wicked transgressors;-Unless they repent thereafter and mend (their conduct); for Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful." 24:4-5.

"Those who slander chaste women, indiscreet but believing, are cursed in this life and in the Hereafter: for them is a grievous Penalty." 24:23

"The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever has wronged his brother regarding his honor or something else, let him seek his pardon today..." (Bukhari #2449)

"Those who slander against chaste, innocent, believing women [and then neither repent for their slander nor correct their behavior], shall indeed be cursed in this world as well as the hereafter. For them shall be a grievous punishment. "

The abovementioned verses from Quran and Hadith are suffice for me to be patient and just put my trust in Him that He will punish whoever who slanders, accordingly.

Forgiveness will never be granted and I will make sure I will see to this in the Day of Qiyamah.
